The Kelty Tornado 4900 is Kelty's largest hydration pack for extended adventures. The narrow, slim profile of the Tornado internal frame backpack hugs your body and allows maximum movement. The Tornado comes equipped with Kelty's adjustable Storm suspension system. The 2-layer padded waistbelt is contoured and reinforced with plastic for comfortable load support. Kelty's Scherer Cinch uses a pulley-like system to double the tightening force on the waistbelt. The Tornado's shoulder straps are padded and contoured, and their height is adjustable for different torso lengths. The Tornado's load lifter straps lift weight up and off your shoulders. The adjustable height sternum strap positions the shoulder straps across the chest to prevent chafing under the arms and on the shoulders. The LightBeam™ aluminum stays are 50% lighter than regular stays. They twist easier, allowing your shoulders to move independently from your hips. Yet, the stays are also 30-40% stiffer to better hold the shape of your back, and they can still be custom fit (bent) just like regular stays. The Tornado's suspension system also includes a rigid HDPE frame sheet which provides vertical support to the back panel, and keeps your gear from poking you in the back. The Tornado includes Kelty's 3 liter Source hydration system. The Source reservoir is made of taste free polyethylene so it won't transfer that bad plastic taste, and it won't absorb the flavor of liquid you store inside. The Tornado's reservoir is also bacteria and maintenance free thanks to its FDA approved anti-grunge compound. The Tornado's pack bag features both top and side access. There's an internal load pocket, an outer mesh stash pocket, a security pocket and mesh water bottle pockets. The side compression straps and load compression straps help you to cinch the pack up tight for a more compact and solid carry. At 4900 cubic inches, the Tornado is ideal for backpacking on 2-5 day trips.
