    From the back cover
The New York Mets captured the National League's eastern division with a rather unimpressive record of 82-79. Their World Series opponent, the Oakland A's, had a powerful lineup featuring slugger Reggie Jackson and were in quest of their second straight series triumph. The Mets countered with an outstanding arsenal of pitchers: Tom Seaver, Jerry Koosman, and John Matlack. The A's one Game 1, but lost Game 2 of the Seriese, a 12-inning marathon that lasted four hours and 13 minutes. Game 3 was another extra-inning affair in which Tom Seaver struck out 12 batters in eight innings, but the A's prevailed. In Game 4, Rusty Staub helped tie the series by going 4-for-4 with a home run. New York put up a valiant effort, but Oakland won the series in seven games. This home video has great audio of umpire Augie Donatelli arguing with the Mets manager Yogi Berra and shortstop Bud Harrelson. It also contains the last career hit for the incomparable Willie Mays.
