The Big Agnes Mad House 2 is a roomy convertible tent that can be used in 4 seasons. Winner of Backpacker Magazine 2003 "Best Buy" rating, the Mad House 2 is sturdy in rough weather and has a great space to weight ratio. The Mad House 2 is lighter than most other 2-person convertible tents. Yet, Big Agnes has managed to provide a roomy 36-1/4 sq. ft. of interior floor space, a 40" high head height, and twin 11 sq. ft. vestibules. It's tough to find a larger 4-season compatible tent that's as light as the Mad House. The Mad House 2 incorporates a sturdy continuous sleeve construction, which helps to distribute loads over the entire tent. The computer designed DAC FeatherLite 8.84mm aluminum poles are designed specifically for lightweight tents. The dual door and dual vestibule design is convenient. Each occupant has their own entrance and exit, so there's no crawling over each other when nature calls in the middle of the night. The vestibules are each large enough for a pack and a dog. The vestibules both face the same direction for pitching the tent into the prevailing wind or easy entry in crowded or vegetated camp sites. Big Agnes has designed in excellent cross ventilation with 2 door openings, a zip open ceiling panel and 2 fly vents which can be opened from inside the tent on rainy nights. The Mad House 2 has the versatility for all season use. If you're light minded, the optional foot print can be attached to the tent fly eliminating the tent body for light and fast summer backpacking.
