If you want a little more power in your two-way radio, the Cobra microTALK PR 1000 is the model for you. This radio offers the greater range of General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS)--plus seven channels of Family Radio Service, enabling you to communicate with friends and family who have FRS radios. The PR 1000 features an output of 2 watts on high power for up to a 5-mile range and 0.5 watts on low power. Other radio features include 38 privacy codes, key lock, a backlit LCD display, and a SuperFlex detachable antenna that allows for the use of a mobile antenna. The radio body is water resistant and comes with a desk stand/belt clip. It operates on six AA batteries for up to 20 hours. Cobra covers this radio with a two-year limited warranty. Important note to customers: A $45 FCC license is required to use a GMRS radio. One license covers the entire family.
