    Country: USA On June 6, 1995, the Dallas Burn became a charter member of Major League Soccer. Ten short months later, 27,779 fans welcomed the top level of soccer in the United States to the Cotton Bowl as the Burn defeated San Jose in the team's first ever match. In their nine years as members of MLS, the Burn were one of the most consistent teams in the league. Dallas qualified for the playoffs the first seven years of the team's existence and came within one game of advancing to MLS Cup on two occasions. Additionally, the team added a major piece of hardware to the trophy case in 1997 by capturing the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup title. The Frisco Soccer & Entertainment Center broke ground on February 18. This 115 acre facility will feature a 20,000 plus seat soccer stadium that will serve as the new home of FC Dallas. In conjunction with the club's move to the Frisco Soccer and Entertainment Center in 2005, the Dallas Burn have changed their name to FC Dallas. Also accompanying the new name is a new color scheme that features red, white and blue (the colors of both the American and Texas flags) and a hint of silver.
