Country: Italy Rather than a club focused on future greatness, the students from the well to do Massimo d'Azeglio Grammar School wanted to start a sports club dedicated to playing the sport of football in a fun environment, or so the story goes. So on November 1, 1897, they founded the club Juventus. Originally, they were not even concerned with coming up with a club name, as Club Juventus (Club Youth) was not decided on until two years later. In 1903 there was a mix up in a shipment of jerseys from England. Prior to that fateful error, the Juventus players had worn pink jerseys, but the new shipment contained the black and white strip, now made famous by the Turin side known as the Bianconeri or sometimes referred to as the zebras. Since the humble beginning, Juventus has become Italy's biggest club and the club that fans either love or love to hate. Their trophy cabinet is filled with 26 scudetto, 9 domestic cups, 2 European Championships, and 3 UEFA cups. After winning the 1957/58 scudetto, Juventus became the first Italian club entitled to wear the star on their jersey for winning 10 national championships. Twenty years later, Juventus won their first piece of European silverware - the UEFA Cup. With players such as Zoff, Bottega, Causio, Tardelli, Rossi, Brady, Del Piero, Vieri, Zidane, Inzaghi, Davids and others it is no surprise the white and black have achieved so much and will continue to do so.
