The Montrail Masai, worn by two-time Western States 100 victor Scott Jurek, is built for comfort over long distances in warm temperatures. Materials are chosen for breathability and light weight with a cushiony feel on rough Sierra trails, hard Bay-area roads or mixed terrain. Montrail updated their lightest, most breathable shoe to fit a variety of foot types so road runners enjoy it training on multiple surfaces and ultra runners use it to trail race. Constructed with plenty of mesh, it allows airflow during sustained activity in warm weather. The reinforced toe cap uses EVA and rubber for durability, and then screen prints it with polyurethane for abrasion resistance. Tongue is padded and stretches for a sock-like fit, and further protection from lace rubs comes from a seamless inner layer in the upper.
