Country: Argentina Club Atletico Independiente de Avellaneda is an Argentinean football club founded in 1905. Their glory days began with the amateur championship of 1926, the team that went 21 and 4, outscoring opponents 75 to 14. They followed it up with another championship the next year. In 1934, the great scorer, Arsenio Pastor Erico (1934 46), joined the club. He would go on to score a team record 293 goals in 325 games, and helped the club win the First Division Championships in 1938 and 39. But perhaps the highlight of this storied team came in January 5th, 1978, when with only eight men in the lineup, they beat Talleres to win their first of three National Championships, behind hero, Ricardo Enrique Bochini, who between 1972 and 1991 played in 638 games, more than any player in club history. Independiente has won 13 Argentinean championships, placing them third behind giants CA River Plate and Boca Juniors. In addition, Independiente has won 7 Copa Libertadores titles, and a total of 15 international titles.
