View In H20 Purification/containers Section Of Cabela's! Field-tested by U.S. Marines, this ultra-light and compact device is a simple, reliable option for purifying large volumes of water. Comparable in size to a small flashlight, the MSR MIOX Purifier is a miniaturized version of a high-tech municipal water-treatment system. Simply add water, shake and press the button. The result is a purified drinking solution that you add to the desired amount of drinking water (1/2-4 liters). It works by combining untreated freshwater and salt to create a brine solution. A low-voltage charge of electricity is passed through the saltwater to create a chemical reaction producing a small yet powerful dose of mixed-oxidants (MIOX). The oxidants are then mixed with the untreated water to eliminate viruses, bacteria, giardia and cryptosporidia. Virtually maintenance free, just replace the batteries and salt when necessary. Includes salt, safety indicator strips and storage sack. Purifies 200 liters without changing batteries. Operating range: 20 F-130 F. Weight: 8 ounces. Colors: Red, Military Tan.
